Okay, so nobody likes vacuuming cleaning. Well, maybe there are a few people somewhere who enjoy it, but these might not be the sorts of people you want to spend your vacation time with. Anyone who vacuums for fun is just a little bit odd. But we all love the feeling that comes from having a beautifully kept home, with spill-free floors as far as the eye can see. If only there was some way to achieve the look without investing any of the effort! Maybe technology has let us down in a multitude of ways, with video recorders only our children can use and alarm clocks that go off at three in the morning, but now technology has made up for lost time, and provided us with the one thing we’ve always dreamed of. A self-powered vacuum cleaner. It might sound like something from the not too distant future, but self-powered vacuuming units are available now. Employing obstacle-detecting sensors that use an electronic grid system or simply keep on trucking until something gets in their way, these invaluable little gadgets are capable of vacuuming without any help whatsoever from you. Though unfortunately the technology has not been perfected yet. You might not be able to entrust your entire house worth of vacuuming over to the little guy just yet, but these helpful gadgets are the ideal accompaniment to any vacuuming schedule. If you like to maintain a crumb-free household, but don’t like to vacuum every day, then a self-powered vacuum cleaning unit might be the ideal compliment to your housekeeping schedule. If you do decide to ask for a little robotic vacuuming help, then be sure to look for certain qualities in the unit you choose. A recharger that can be constantly docked is a useful accessory, as it ensures your unit is ready to go any time you need some housework help. Some models include sensors that will alert them to any oncoming stairwells, preventing any trips or falls downstairs. More advanced units include special sensors that allow them to navigate between rooms, and overcome small obstacles, including thresholds. So finally science has earned its keep and given us something really useful! The self-powered vacuum cleaner is a hopeful glimpse of a bright future – when we might not have to do any housework at all!

Flat conveyor belts
Flat conveyor belts are used in the meat, poultry, food processing, and packaging industries. They can be of different materials, widths, and specifications. When used for dairy or food processing, the belt must have the appropriate approvals like FDA and USFDA. When the flat conveyor belt has a maximized open area then the efficacy of different operations like cooling, coating, draining, heating and drying improves greatly. Flat conveyor belts are no-slip, and can be maintained easily. The advantages of the system are that the low belt mass leads to lowered power consumption and operating costs. Flat conveyor belts have lowered absorption of heat and cold. A large number of mesh sizes are available, which offer excellent air flow and easy cleaning, and ensures minimal contact between product and belt. When deciding on which belt is best, you must consider the mesh pattern, metal, and size; the tensile strength of the conveyor belt needed for your work; the belt size and material; different components that make up the flat conveyor belt system; and whether you need single loop, double loop, or c-cure edges. Flat systems come in different component options and designs. So you can choose to customize your flat conveyor belt to suit your needs. To ensure efficacy you must ensure a regular overhaul and cleaning schedule. Three things to keep in mind are the condition of the conveyor belt, wear and tear of other parts, and the types of material that are sticking to the belt. Choose a cleaning system that is non-toxic and efficient. If done properly, you could extend the working life of your conveyor system. The important aspects of trouble-free working and lowered downtime are belt tension, load support, troughability, belt impact, flexibility, and belt covers.

Celebrate with christmas decorations
Christmas is without a doubt one of the most cherished and celebrated times of the year. Most people love to anticipate the coming of Christmastime because of all the great things that Christmas means to them. One of the best ways to anticipate, celebrate, and make the most of the holidays is the use of Christmas decorations. There is nothing lovelier than entering a house at Christmastime that is filled with beautiful Christmas decorations that reflect the love of the family and the values of the season. Nothing is more special than seeing a family Christmas tree filled with homemade ornaments a strings of popcorn that the children have spent hours making. Christmas decorations can transform even the most bland house into a warm and life-filled house during the holidays and that is why I love Christmas decorations so much. Spending a Saturday putting up Christmas decorations can be a great way for a family to spend time together and build lasting family traditions at the same time. Children will learn to enjoy the work that goes into making their home beautiful during the holidays if they are included in putting up the Christmas decorations. Spend time teaching your kids the importance of Christmas and the different things that your Christmas decorations symbolize for your family. Use the hours of decorating to teach important faith and life lessons. Once you have worked hard at putting up Christmas decorations all day, spend the evening watching old Christmas films and eating pizzas. Do you have any memories of making your childhood home beautiful with Christmas decorations? When I grew up, there was a rule in our home that we couldn't pick out a tree or put up any Christmas decorations unless everyone in the family was home. Even after my older siblings went to college we continued this special tradition. It has been fun to pass down a similar tradition to my own family. My children love to anticipate the day that we will go to the tree farm as a family and cut down the perfect tree. They love to help get the boxes of Christmas decorations out of the basement. And they especially love to sort through the Christmas tree ornaments and choose the ones they want to place on the limbs of our tree. Before the next holiday season rolls around consider ways that you and your family can celebrate by making new traditions or reviving old ones as you beautify your home with Christmas decorations.

Tile over tile radiant heated bathroom floor
Tile over tile means exactly what it says, but in this case you’re going to sandwich a layer of radiant heating mats between the old and the new tile. Tile over tile is an easy way to avoid the mess associated with tearing up the old bathroom floor, but requires thorough planning. Deflection: Before you install a radiant heat mat over the old bathroom tile and install new tile over the mat, you should check the floor for deflection. This is the maximum amount the floor can move under the anticipated load (you). Ceramic tile is hard and will break or dislodge if the surface bends under the load. Here’s a simple test: Stand in the middle of the bathroom floor and jump up and down. If the floor moves it has a deflection problem and is not a good candidate for tile over tile installation until you reinforce the sub-floor. Avoid That Sinking Feeling: Since you’re tiling over tile, you must plan in advance to avoid making the vanity, toilet and tub look like they’re “sinking” into the new floor. Fortunately, many of the new radiant heating mats are no thicker than the depth of the mortar you would ordinarily apply for most tile installationsbine this with a tile thickness of ј inch and the maximum elevation above the old floor would be only Ѕ inch. One way to keep the bathroom fixtures from looking swallowed up by the new floor is to remove and reinstall the baseboard. Better yet, why not buy new baseboard tile to complement the new floor? The raised height of the new floor will also require you to adjust the length of the door(s) and possibly install a new threshold. Preparation: Remove or re-attach broken tile pieces. If you remove them, wait until the floor has been sanded and thoroughly vacuumed before you fill the spaces with mortar. If any of the tiles have checks wider than 1/8”, you should consider a crack isolation membrane. This membrane is a roll on product that you apply to the old tile. The membrane allows the new floor to move independently of the old. Next, sand the old tile so the mortar has a good bonding surface. A belt sander would ensure a consistent bonding surface. Please make sure you wear a face mask and safety glasses while sanding. The tiles may have been fired with toxic lead glaze. After sanding, vacuum the tile and wipe down with an all purpose cleaner. Pay special attention to the areas untouched by the sander. Installation: Roll out the mats prefabricated to your specifications by the manufacturer. Some radiant systems, like Quickmat, are self-adhesive and require no mortar to secure them to the old tile floor. If you’re re-tiling the only bathroom, keep a board and some scrap 2 x 4’s handy to protect the mats when the bathroom is being used. Throughout the installation process, use a digital ohm meter to check the resistance of the heating mats. This will help you monitor the mats for short circuits. Have your electrician connect the heating mats to the power source and install the thermostat. Depending on the local electrical inspection procedures, you might have to wait until the job is inspected before you start laying tile. Trowel out the mortar over the mats. Some manufacturers recommend latex - modified or epoxy-modified mortar and grout instead of water-based multi-purpose adhesives. Mortar beds thicker than 3/8 inch should work fine for most systems; they just take slightly longer to heat up. Since you won’t be covering the entire floor with heating mats, make sure the mortar applied over open areas, (under the toilet) is level with the mortar covered mats. Don’t bang the trowel on the mat or heating wire to remove excess mortar from the trowel. This could sever the heating wire. At this point, you would lay the tile. If you have no experience tiling, practice on your neighbor’s bathroom floor. Fire It Up! Your new radiant heated bathroom floor looks beautiful and you can’t wait to get warm feet. Go ahead, but only for 10 minutes. Don’t put the system into full operation until the mortar is fully cured. This can take up to four weeks. See why thorough planning is so important?

Fireplace faqs 4 key areas
: Frequently asked questions about fireplace center around four key areas; Venting, Remote Control, Converting from one fuel to another, and Piping & Dampers. Venting Questions What is the difference between direct vent, b vent, totally vented and ventless? A wood-burning fireplace is totally vented. For a complete explanation of these terms, see our venting page . Can I put a cabinet around direct vent, ventless or b-vent? Cabinets are boxes that extend about 18" from the wall. Mantels are wood frames that only extend about 4" - 6" from the wall. * B-vent cannot have a cabinet. A b-vent fireplace must be installed in the wall, allowing all the piping to be hidden. You may then use a mantel. * Direct vents can have a cabinet if you vent piping out the back. * Vent-free can have a cabinet. Can I use vented gas logs in a stove? ...In a fireplace? ...In a coal burning fireplace? Vented gas logs can only be used in a wood-burning fireplace. A coal-burning fireplace is too shallow. Vented gas logs are not recommended for a stove due to safety concerns. I am remodeling my basement. Should I go with direct vent or vent-free? Direct vent will give you great looks and a good amount of heat with little moisture. Vent-free will give you lots of heat and good looks but the number one complaint about vent-free is it works too well, or puts off too much heat. If the vent-free is sized correctly to the room, you will not have a problem with heat or moisture. What is a chase? A wooden structure built around the vent pipe to protect it from the weather and to keep the flue gases venting properly. How energy efficient is direct vent compared to b-vent? A b-vent fireplace is the least efficient venting option and can be vented horizontally or vertically. Direct venting is the most efficient; some are even “heater rated” and can be vented horizontally, vertically or both. Remote Controls What does remote ready mean? Does it come with a remote? Remote ready means that via the remote (wired or wireless) you can turn the unit on and off which requires a millivolt valve that creates millionths of volts of electricity to control the valve. Remote ready units do not come with a remote because there are up to 20 different kinds of remotes. Can I use my wired wall switch or thermostat with variable high-lo logs or fireplace? No. You have to use the remote that is designed for the high-lo variable logs or fireplaces. What is a high-lo valve? Via the remote, you will be able to raise and lower the height of the flame. The remotes are adjustable as either on off or thermostatically controlled. Should I buy a remote ready vented logs set? No. Because you would have to always leave the damper completely open which means you’d lose $.60 of every heating dollar you put into the house. Therefore, when you want to turn it on, you have to open the damper. So most people just turn it on when they are opening the damper and find the remote unnecessary. Should I buy a remote ready with vent-free gas logs? Yes. We suggest that you get a thermostatically controlled remote so that you can keep the room at a comfortable temperature and so you can turn the unit on and off. The longest lasting valve and remote are the units that vary the height of the flame. Conversion Questions Can I convert my vent-free natural gas product to another fuel? No. By national code, you cannot convert any vent-free product. Can I convert my vented propane gas logs to natural, or vice versa? Yes. You can convert natural to propane and propane to natural, but in most cases, you need to buy a new valve. Your manufacturer can provide conversion instructions. Piping, Dampers & Flue Questions How much can I close my damper with vented gas logs when in use? You cannot close your damper at all with vented gas logs while they are burning. How can I seal my damper with vent-free gas logs? We would recommend that you close the damper as tight as you can and get a Lock-Top damper that seals at the top of the chimney. With a direct vent insert, do I need to reline the chimney? No, you do not have to reline to wood burning specifications, but you must use the piping that is recommended by the manufacturer, which fits into the existing chimney. What are the different kinds of burner pans for vent-free gas logs? There is sheet metal, black pipe and stainless steel. The advantage of the sheet metal is that it is less expensive. Black pipe is heavier than sheet metal and costs a little more. The disadvantage of both is that they can rust through because they have very little rust protection. Stainless steel costs more, but will not corrode or burn through and it will last a lifetime. How high above the roof should a chimney extend? The minimum clearance for wood or b-vent is 3 feet above anything within 10 feet. For direct vent it is 18 inches above anything within 10 feet. With direct vent or wood burning, what kind of piping do I use? You must use manufacturer-approved piping. Can different piping be used if I can’t find the original manufacturer’s? No. If you use another manufacturer's piping and it creates a problem in your house; i. e., a fire or smoke damage, no insurance company will cover you. You will also void the warranty and inspectors will not approve it. If brick is cracked can I burn wood? If the crack is bigger than the tip of a graphite pencil, we do not recommend that you burn wood.

How to clean wooden venetian blinds and aluminium venetian blinds
Wood Venetian Blinds: The best way to keep wooden venetian blinds clean is to dust them on a regular basis. As the surface of the slats are smooth it’s a fairly easy job to wipe them down with a cloth or brush off the dust using a clean soft duster. Another good method is to use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. The only thing that is not recommended is to wash these blinds. By that I mean soaking them with water, because although these blinds are sealed, water and excessive dampness can cause the slats to warp. You can use a damp cloth to wipe them over, just be careful not to soak them. Another handy tip is to put a pair of cotton gloves or even an old pair of socks onto your hands and wipe the slats between your fingers. You can also use a small paintbrush to dust the slats. Aluminium Venetian Blinds: As with wooden venetian blinds it is best to dust this type of blind on a regular basis to avoid a large build up of dust. Again brush the dust off using a clean soft duster or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. Unlike the wooden blinds you can use water and some kind of detergent on aluminium venetian blinds. The best way to do this is to tilt the blinds so that the slats are flat. Then using a cloth or sponge with some water and some washing up liquid, wipe them over. Avoid being too aggressive and accidentally damaging the slats by bending them. If the blinds are particularly dirty, for example if they are in the kitchen and have become greasy and very dusty over a period of time, you will need to take the blinds down to clean them. This can be done in two ways. The first method is to take the blinds outside, weather permitting and hang them on a washing line or something similar. You will then need a bucket with warm soapy water and a sponge. Wipe the blinds front and back with the sponge until you have got all the dirt off them, being careful not to scrub too hard and damage the slats. Once you have managed to get all the dirt off you can then hose the blinds down and leave them to dry. As they are nearly dry it is a good idea to wipe them with a soft cloth or paper towel to remove any excess water. The second method is to fill the bathtub with enough warm soapy water to cover the blinds. Then place the blinds in the water and sponge them down until you have removed all the dirt. You can them rinse them off with a shower attachment or by just running the shower. If you bathtub is separate from the shower, fill the tub with enough clean water to rinse the blinds thoroughly. You will then need to take them outside, and as before hang them on the washing line to dry. Conclusion: If you are ever in any doubt then contact the supplier or manufacturer of the blinds or shades for advice or assistance. As long as you follow these guidelines when cleaning your blinds or shades you should have clean and new looking blinds that will enhance the dйcor of your room for years to come.

Converting to solar lighting for your pool
There is much debate about the application of solar energy as a global energy platform. There is no debate, however, on smaller applications such as pool lighting. Converting to Solar Lighting For Your Pool Solar energy has been used by man since the beginning of time. The power of the sun, and its ability to warm the Earth, has kept civilization alive. In the 1830's, John Herschel, a British explorer, used the first modified solar collector to cook food on an African expedition. Since then, man has come up with other ways to harness the sun's power in both big and small amounts. One of the smaller ways that the average person can use solar power on a cost effective basis is for pool lighting. Many homeowners employ the use of pool lighting so that they can enhance the look of their backyard, as well as use their pools at night. Unfortunately, traditional lighting is either a drag on your electric bill or a pain in the derriere if you go the battery route. In the case of floating pool lights, you're stuck with batteries – which make them a time consuming to change out and costly item to run. Batteries need replacing, and they are also harmful to the environment if not disposed of properly. You might be wondering if there are any other options for illuminating your pool that are more cost effective and easier to work with. There is an option that solves all the problems – solar pool lighting. These lights work by floating on the surface of the water. All day, they collect the sun's energy via solar collectors located on the top of their waterproof case. The collected solar energy charges a rechargeable battery located within the light, and then the solar pool lights are turned on automatically at night via a light sensor. The stored power within the battery powers a LED light which takes very little energy to run – therefore, the pool light can stay on for eight to ten hours at a stretch. Going with solar pool lighting may seem a small step in the duel battle against the utility bill and fossil fuel usage. In truth, every little step we take as a society helps. Remember, changing even one light bulb in your house to an energy efficient version saves money and thousands of tons of pollutant from fossil fuel energy production. If we all convert to solar pool lighting, it will make a difference give the sheer number of pools.
